Spirited Away follows a young girl named Chihiro who accidentally stumbles into the spirit world when moving to a new town. Both films were directed by Studio Ghibli's co-founder, Hayao Miyazaki. It, too, went on to win several awards, taking home the prize for Best Film from the Awards of the Japanese Academy. Like Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke briefly held the record for the highest-grossing Japanese film. It is widely considered one of the best animated movies of all time. Spirited Away held the record for Japan's highest-grossing film of all time for almost two decades, and it won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2003. Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are two of Studio Ghibli's most popular films.
